The Tale of Custard the Dragon : Ogden Nash
Central Idea of the Poem-
Belinda and her pets live peacefully in a little white house. These pets are a cat named Ink, a mouse named Blink, a dog named Mustard and a dragon named Custard. Among them all, Custard is the most cowardly and is also often mocked for the same. Then one day, a pirate breaks into Belinda’s house. Everyone is scared, but Custard charges towards the pirate and gobbles him up. Everyone is proud of Custard and their life goes back to normal after this incident.
(बेलिंडा और उसके पालतू जानवर एक छोटे से सफेद घर में शान्ति से रहते हैं। ये पालतू जानवर हैं- इंक नाम की बिल्ली, ब्लिंक नाम का चूहा, मस्टर्ड नाम का कुत्ता और कस्टर्ड नाम का ड्रैगन। इन सभी में, कस्टर्ड सबसे कायर है और अक्सर इसके लिए उसका मज़ाक भी उड़ाया जाता है। फिर एक दिन, एक समुद्री डाकू बेलिंडा के घर में घुस जाता है। हर कोई डरा हुआ है, लेकिन कस्टर्ड समुद्री डाकू की ओर बढ़ता है और उसे निगल लेता है। हर किसी को कस्टर्ड पर गर्व है और इस घटना के बाद उनका जीवन सामान्य हो गया है।)
