My Favourite Leader : Mahatma Gandhi Essay in English

Introduction: Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was a great patriot and lover of peace. He was known as “the Father of the Nation’. He practised truth in life. He made our country free from British people.

Early Life and Education: He was born on 2nd October, 1869 at Porbandar in Gujarat. His father Karmchand Gandhi was the Diwan of Rajkot. His mother was a noble and pious lady. At the age of seven he was sent to school. Gandhiji was an ordinary student. After passing matriculation he went to England for higher studies. From there he returned to India as barister and started practice at the Mumbai High Court.

His political career : After some time he joined the Congress party. He took keen interest in the struggle, for the freedom of India. He started Non-cooperation Movement in 1920. He went to jail several times. He fought against the British rule in India with the weapon of truth and non-violoence. Under his leadership India became free on 15th August, 1947.

Conclusion: On 30th January, 1948 a man named Nathuram Godse shot him dead. That time he was going for his daily prayers in Birla house Delhi. On his death the whole world burst into tears. We can never forget his services.
