A Great Leader : Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru
Introduction: Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was the first Prime Minister of free India. He was a true follower of Mahatma Gandhi. He followed the path of truth and non-violence. He was the maker of India’s destiny.
Birth and Parentage: He was born on 14th November, 1889 at Allahabad. His father Motilal Nehru was a leading advocate of his time. His mother was a noble lady.
Early Life and Education: He was a worthy son of a worthy father. He was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. He received his primary education at home. His father sent him to England for higher education. From here he returned as a barrister.
Political Career: He practised as a lawyer at the Allahabad High Court. After some time he joined the struggle for freedom started by Gandhiji. He gave up practice and joined the Congress. He went to jail several times. Thus he suffered a lot for India.
Services to the Nation a Prime Minister: India became independent on 15th August, 1947. He became the first prime minister. He solved many problems of the country. He made India a strong and powerful country in the world.
